Dissent: Cardigan Hack: STEEKING!

This is the second post in a series about turning your Dissent Pullover into a cardigan. You can get all the math and details on how to cast on and modify the original pattern in the first post here.

I know one of the biggest challenges of turning a pullover into a cardigan is the idea of cutting your sweater open, so I made a 5-minute video showing you what you’ll need to do after you finish the knitting. Yes, it shows me cutting me sweater open. But you’ll also see how I baste guide lines, use my sewing machine to sew reinforcements, and pick up stitches for the button bands.

If you know me, you’ll already know that I’m inspired by American Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This is my second design that’s an interpretation of Justice Ginsburg’s Dissent jabot, a decorative collar that she wears when she reads dissenting opinions in the court. This fingering weight pullover comes with several versions to mix and match, including different sleeve and body lengths. I was thinking of persistent women as I knit all three samples. Wear yours with feminist defiance.

There’s also a worsted weight cardigan and a hat version of this design available.
