Springy Hand Made Outfit

It’s an in-between season, so here’s a layering outfit with clothes I made myself. I’m even going to show you the coat I finished months ago and have been wearing on my hikes ever since, but have just finally photographed!

First off, here’s a favourite work-from home look (assuming it’s a “get dressed” day and not a pyjama day):

  • not-quite-black jeans (modified Bryce Cargo Pants by Hey June)

  • tank top (Kila Tank by Allie Olson)

  • sweater (Seablush by me in The Farmer’s Daughter Soka'pii)

  • and cowl (Botanical Sampler by me in Gauge Dye Works).

The cowl is just the thing for keeping me from freezing when I’m sitting for a long time. The pattern and yarn are still exclusive to last year’s Gauge club members, but that doesn’t stop me from wearing it all the time! Also, here’s my first hint about this year’s club — it’s happening! We’re working on it behind the scenes and just maybe I will have a little tiny peek for you soon.

Sometimes I’ll even add mitts at home for when I don’t have a cup of tea and my fingers get cold typing. I’m really into this green-on-green wool look with these Witty’s Trail Mitts that I knit in The Farmer’s Daughter Pishkun. (Yes, that’s an all-green, all Farmer’s Daughter look!)

Andrea is looking down. She’s wearing a green sweater and green mitts and one hand is up by her collar like she’s adjusting something but is actually just showing you her cute mitt.

And here’s my coat for when I walk outside! This is Grainline’s Duffel Coat, the long version, and I made a size 0 on top and a size 8 on the bottom. I probably could have gotten away with a 4 or 6 on bottom, but I’m still really impressed with it. (I’ve got a 31.25” bust and 39” hips.) It took me absolutely forever to make and was a big challenge because of the ten million pieces and the many times I had to re-do things after making mistakes, but I’m so happy with it! The only big change I did was to add magnetic snaps instead of toggles and it’s an awesome closure system in combo with the zipper. I got the mohair/wool blend coating from Blackbird.

I just realized if I was going to really show you a going-out look, I would have included my favourite mask that’s got a “sketched” floral design, but I was just pretending and I didn’t actually go out my front door today. I’ll include the mask in a future post for sure. (I also opted not to show you my feet, but I was wearing cute shearling slippers, not shoes.)

And here’s a closeup of my super green Seablush yoke and Witty’s Trail Mitts because the yarn and textures are just so pretty. Those hexagon earrings are from Betsy Farmer.

I hope you’re getting to have a satisfactory combo of inside crafting time and outside adventuring time this spring. I’m so excited to wear my wool out and see the flowers start to bloom!

Here are the patterns I mentioned in this post, my Seablush Pullover and my Witty’s Trail Mitts.
