Take a Summer Stroll with me

The wind started blowing this morning and I noticed that the maple tree out my window is starting to look a shade yellower. I adore fall (sweater season!) but I’m not ready to let go of summer yet. So I flipped through some of my summer nature pictures and I’m sharing a few favourites here.

An Anna’s hummingbird with shimmering green feathers is hovering in front of a colourful flower garden about to take a sip from a trumpet-shaped purple flower.

A cedar waxwing is perched on a leafy branch. They look like they’re wearing a lot of black eye makeup and have a bright yellow tip to their tail.

I’ve been working on my bird photography skills (in flight is always an achievement!) but it’s also been fun to see other critters around. The racoon above was in a group of at least five feasting on a blackberry bush. And I’ll take any opportunity to photograph bunnies because I love cute things too!

Sometimes I try to take pictures that are more than just educational or fun to look at, but that seem a little more like art. I’m feeling like the optical illusion mallards below worked for that.

Two mallards are napping on calm water. They look like reflections of each other and they’re reflected in the water so it looks like a visual trick.

My goal is to savour every last second of summer before embracing the cozy joys of autumn. I hope my photos help you enjoy the summer too!
