One of the first patterns I designed in collaboration with Gauge Dye Works was Saxe Point, a sweet toe-up sock pattern with leg shaping and a colourwork cuff. We’ve wanted to do a holiday project together forever, so this year we decided to update Saxe Point with a new festive colour way and chart. Our inspiration for the mod was “string of lights” and I’m pretty sure we nailed it. (Right?) We call the new motif and the new colour way “Twinkle.”

To add a little excitement, I used duplicate stitch to create multi-coloured “lights” in the colourwork. I always think it’s fun to learn a new skill and duplicate stitch is one that I think you’ll love. It can be used for embroidery to add decoration, and I also always use it on the wrong side of my fabric to weave in ends. Wanna learn how?

Here’s a video showing it! It also includes my method for winding bobbins that makes managing multiple colours of yarn so much easier.

And if you’re really adventurous, what about metallic thread or beads??? If you try any of that, please tag me on instagram @andrearangelknits because I really want to see it.

Get the pattern

If the Saxe Point pattern or Knit Outside ebook are in your Ravelry library, just download the files again. The bonus Twinkle chart is at the end of the pattern and ebook, so you can get started right away. (Of course, you get the original chart too, so it’s like getting two patterns in one!)

If you bought the pattern somewhere besides Ravelry (or if you want it somewhere besides Ravelry), you’ll need to send me an email at andre@andrearangel.com and I’ll set you up with the update since it’s not automated via my website. But I’ll be happy to help!

You can also buy Saxe Point and Knit Outside here on my website and on Ravelry.

Get the yarn

Gauge Dye Works is currently taking pre-orders for the Twinkle yarn and says they’ll probably keep that up through the end of December, so head on over to their website.
