In my garden (on my balcony)

This is the second spring that, as an adult, I’ve had my own space outside where I could grow things and just be outdoors. It’s a balcony, not a yard, but it feels so incredibly special and I’m trying to take advantage as much as possible. We’ve got some veggies, herbs, and trees in pots, and a sweet native garden in a planter. We’ve already eaten some of the arugula and lettuce growing in pots and I go out there multiple times a day just to see how everything is doing, and to check if there are any new blossoms. It’s wonderful.

So here’s what’s growing in my balcony garden!

My first ever cherry blossom blooming. The five petals are bright white and gold bits shoot out from the centre like fireworks.

I really have no idea if the cherry trees will produce fruit any time soon (like this year or next…) but I’m just delighted that they’re developing.

This very fancy fly has been hanging out in one of our Oregon Grape pots and it was kind enough to stay very still for this photo. I’m not sure what kind of fly it is, but it’s pretty spectacular.

I hope you all have a way to be outside and that you enjoy my little garden. Happy spring!
