What's great about my patterns?

What makes a good pattern

This is the fourth post in a series I’ve been writing about my business. Here are the first three in case you’re curious about where my business came from and how it works:

Hello, It’s Me! The Story of my Life and Business

Let’s Talk About Business

How do you Make a Knitting Pattern?

Today I just want to share why I’m proud of the work I do. When you buy a pattern from me, you can be confident that it’s high quality. I focus on the knitter’s experience first and I’ve applied a lot of feedback through surveys, testing, and talking with knitters about what they want. Here’s what you get with an Andrea Rangel pattern:

  • Expert Design: My patterns are thoughtfully designed with the benefit of over ten years experience. That experience shows in a clear, consistent writing and style that makes for enjoyable knitting projects.

  • Technical Editing: Every single one of my patterns has been reviewed by a professional technical editor to check for numerical errors and style problems.

  • Test Knitting: Not only do I knit samples for all my patterns myself (often multiple samples!), but I also hire (as in pay) everyday knitters to try out the patterns in the yarn of their choice. I use their feedback to improve layout and wording so that you have a great experience.

  • Professional Layout: I designed my pattern layout with a focus on how knitters will actually use the patterns. I’m always thinking about how to improve ease of use so knitters don’t even notice the layout while they work.

  • Beautiful Photography: I’m a bit obsessed with having gorgeous imagery and you can be sure that every pattern will include plenty of photos to show multiple views of the project, both for inspiration and to help show important details.

  • Customer support: I offer support through email, so if you get stuck on a pattern you can always reach out to me at Contact@AndreaRangel.com for help.
